Why should I join?

What will the card cost?

The current price of the lifeCARD is £3 for Adult or Child.
Your card will be valid for one year.

How do i get a card?

You can buy your card online or pick up an application form from any SIV venue.

When can I buy my lifeCARD?

Cards are now available to purchase online or at any of the participating SIV Venues. Card holders will pay less per activity than non card holders.

Do I have to buy a card?

You do not have to buy a lifeCARD to use any of the venue facilities, but you will pay a higher price per activity.

Do I need to renew each year to continue receiving the benefits?

Yes, a lifeCARD is valid for one year from the date of purchase. You can either renew online or at reception. You will keep your existing card when you renew.

Why have SIV decided to introduce the lifeCARD?

So we can improve our products to match what you, our customer wants and improve how we communicate with you to keep you informed of new developments, alterations and let you know about things that might be of interest to you. Also, so we can give you special offers/discounts /advanced bookings and provide you with rewards and special discounts from other companies.

I am on a 'learn to' development programme (block booking) and already have a card that I swipe, do I still need a lifeCARD?

You dont need to purchase a lifeCARD, however you will make significant savings on your lessons by purchasing a lifeCARD for £3. The card will last for 12 months.

I am a Fitness Unlimited/Golfit Member, will I need a card?

You won't need another card but you will receive all the benefits of the card free of charge as an added value to your membership.

Does my baby / toddler need a card?

You can purchase a lifeCARD for children from any age. However, children under a certain age will receive some activities for free and will not need a lifeCARD for that free entry (e.g children under 5 swim for free). A parent/guardian signature is required for anyone 16 years and under.

How many people need a card to book a badminton court?

The person booking / paying for a court or pitch needs to have a lifeCARD to receive a discount.

If I have a Slice Card will I need a LifeCARD too?

You will still be entitled to a 30% discount on PAYG activities as a Slice Card holder, however you will not receive the exclusive lifeCARD offers and discounts unless you purchase a card.

Will all of the family need a card to receive a family skate or family swim?

The person paying for the family activity needs to have a lifeCARD to receive a discount off the price. (Only lifeCARD holders will receive exclusive offers and discounts, which are non transferable to other customers, therefore to receive the maximum benefit, all family members should consider getting a lifeCARD).

Will the card give me a discount foodetc outlets?

Our foodetc loyalty promotions will become exclusive to lifeCARD holders only. Monthly promotional offers will also only apply to card holders. But there is no standard discount for lifeCARD holders in foodetc.

Will I get a discount on all activities in all venues listed?

As a lifeCARD holder you will receive a discount on all pay-as-you-go and coached activities within the venues listed here.

Where can I use my card for a discount?

For a full list of the venues where the lifeCARD can be used click here. SIV golf courses, Springs Leisure Centre and Westfield Sports Centre will join the scheme at a later date.

What if I forget my card, will I get charged the higher price level for my activity?

Yes. From 31/12/2011 if you forget your lifeCARD you will be charged a higher price for that visit.

Will I use my card when purchasing tickets via the Arena or City Hall?

No, but as a lifeCARD holder you will receive exclusive offers from these venues.

How will I know when to renew my card?

You will receive an email prior to your renewal date reminding you to renew online. You will also be reminded by reception.

I don’t want another card in my wallet is there another option

Yes, a key fob will be made available in addition to having a card.

What do I do if I lose my card?

The cost of a replacement card is £3.00 and can be purchased from reception.

I no longer use my card, can I get a refund.

No. The card is non-refundable.

New lifeCARD leisure scheme for Sheffield

A new leisure scheme for Sheffield is being introduced in one of the biggest changes to entertainment, sport and health and fitness in the city for more than 20 years.

The lifeCARD is being launched by Sheffield International Venues (SIV) and will offer discounts on many of the activities across the company's 19 leisure and entertainment facilities.

SIV operates venues including Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, the English Institute of Sport - Sheffield (EIS Sheffield), iceSheffield, Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre, Concord Sports Centre and Hillsborough Leisure Centre.

Although prices are set to increase across SIV facilities, lifeCARD holders will receive a 20 per cent discount and, in the majority of cases, customers will end up paying less than they do currently.

In addition, customers with a lifeCARD will benefit from special offers, advance bookings on major events such as music concerts, ticket offers for sports and entertainment and discounts from companies including Stagecoach Supertram and city hotels.

Steve Brailey, chief executive, SIV, said: "Across the country, organisations are experiencing increases in costs and SIV is no different. In these challenging times, the introduction of the lifeCARD is designed to protect our customers from the price increases. It is not about charging more, but offering more, following suit from other successful schemes across the UK and facing the reality of the economic climate.

"The new lifeCARD will enable us to collect more information about our customers and offer a greater range of programmes and activities to suit the whole of Sheffield.

"It will give us information that will help us to develop and to continue to invest in the facilities we provide. This is an exciting opportunity for our customers to make real savings, receive great offers and make a major contribution to the improvement of our products and services."

Activities where customers will pay less with a lifeCARD than they are currently paying will include junior peak and off peak lane swimming, adults off peak lane swimming, junior peak and off peak leisure swimming, off peak outdoor pitch hire and Friday night ice skating.

Offers will be refreshed monthly with December's benefits for all lifeCARD holders including a free ice Skating session, a free lane swim, 50 per cent off any regular hot drink, half price family swim and family skate, free coached activity taster session, buy one, get one free Christmas carol concert tickets and free gym and power plate inductions.

The SIV scheme is similar to those already operating successfully in most major UK cities. It will replace existing SIV cards and has already had the thumbs up from customers following a trial at one of the company's busiest venues, Hillsborough Leisure Centre.

Karen Wake, the first customer to be issued with a lifeCARD at Hillsborough Leisure Centre said: "I think the lifeCARD is a really positive scheme. I visit Hillsborough regularly for Smartbeat sessions so I am looking forward to finding out about other events, activities and promotional offers."

Richard Apps, general manager at Hillsborough, said: "In just the first week since launching, the lifeCARDs have proved to be really popular with our existing customers. We hope this scheme will encourage further increases in sport, fitness and physical activity across our other 18 venues."

SIV plays a key role in driving participation in Sheffield, helping people to maximise their sporting potential, delivering 184,000 swimming lessons, 44,000 skating lessons and 93,000 school sessions every year.

Every year, SIV welcomes more than 4.5 million people and stages over 2,000 events annually. Its Fitness Unlimited gym scheme has 15,000 members in Sheffield.

Fitness Unlimited or Golfit members will receive the benefits of the card free of charge as an added value of membership.

Customers registered on a 'Learn to' development programme will automatically receive the card free for 12 months.

Steve said: "More than ever, health is high on the government agenda and will become even more important as part of the legacy of London 2012. The lifeCARD will incentivise physical activity, supporting our objective to encourage people to become more active, more often."

Although not compulsory, the card will be introduced on Monday, December 5. SIV expects the majority of its regular users to snap up the cards.

Steve added: "Customers with a lifeCARD will pay less than those without. Our leisure and entertainment venues are operated on behalf of Sheffield City Trust, which means any additional income is reinvested back into improving facilities and programmes for the benefit of staff and customers, supporting our mission of excellence for all in sport, leisure and entertainment."

lifeCARDs are available at venue receptions or online at an introductory rate of £3 from November 7 until December 31. After this time, the cost will be £5 for an adult and £3 for a junior (17 and under).

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Sylvia Dunkley, has backed a new leisure scheme which marks one of the biggest changes to health, sport and entertainment in the city for 20 years.

Councillor Dunkley is supporting the lifeCARD, which has been launched by Sheffield International Venues (SIV) to offer discounts on activities across the company's 19 entertainment and leisure facilities.

Councillor Dunkley, who is the city's 115th mayor for the 2011/12 year, hopes the lifeCARD will help children and adults alike to stay fit and healthy.

She said: "Sheffield has always been one of the sporting capitals of the country and inspiring people to participate in sport and health-boosting activities is more important than ever before as the London 2012 Olympic Games approach.

"SIV's leisure and entertainment venues are operated on behalf of the Sheffield City Trust, which means additional income is reinvested back into improving venues and facilities for the benefit of lifeCARD holders, which I think is fantastic for the future of sport in Sheffield.

"I also hope the lifeCARD scheme encourages everyone, of all skills and abilities, to try their hand at different sporting activities. It's great to see that SIV venues are exciting hubs of activity, central to sporting communities in Sheffield."

GB diving star backs new Sheffield leisure scheme

GB diving star Ben Swain believes Sheffield’s new leisure scheme will be the springboard to get more youngsters into aquatic sports and support the next generation of Olympians.

London 2012 hopeful Ben, who trains at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, has given the thumbs up to Sheffield International Venues’ (SIV) lifeCARD, which offers discounts on many of the activities across its 19 leisure and entertainment facilities.

Ben, who is a member of the City of Sheffield Diving Squad based at Ponds Forge, hopes the card will help more people to become more active and has become a part of the initiative himself.

He said: “The lifeCARD is a fantastic idea and is a great way of encouraging more people to get involved in different activities across the city, giving them access to a wider range of sport, fitness and leisure activities.”

“The development of diving is important help the next generation of Olympic stars and if this scheme encourages more people to take up the sport through the lessons scheme at Ponds Forge then it will open up more opportunities for more people.”

More than 6,000 people who are currently on the diving and swimming lessons scheme across SIV are already making the most of the benefits the card brings.

A staggering 45,000 people from the region have become members of the new leisure scheme after it was launched six months ago.

Sheffield International Venues (SIV) introduced the lifeCARD membership last November giving customers significant savings on sports and leisure activities across the city.

SIV operates 19 venues including the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, the English Institute of Sport – Sheffield (EIS Sheffield), iceSheffield, Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre, Concord Sports Centre and Hillsborough Leisure Centre.

All lifeCARD members have benefitted from a 20 percent discount on many pay and play activities across the group of venues.

In addition, card holders have redeemed 15,000 special offers over the past six months with new deals being introduced monthly by SIV.

Sheffield International Venues has successfully created partnerships with many local companies, including Stagecoach, Q-park and Irwin Mitchell.

In September, SIV also plans to launch a student lifeCARD as part of a partnership agreement with Sheffield Hallam University. All students will be given a lifeCARD for the duration of their stay in Sheffield.

The Sheffield lifeCARD costs £3 if purchased before August 2012 and is available online or by picking up an application form from any SIV venue.

Free lifeCARDs for 37,000 Sheffield students

Discounted sport, leisure and entertainment activities are on the cards for thousands of university students in Sheffield.

Leading leisure operator Sheffield International Venues (SIV) is giving all Sheffield Hallam University students free lifeCARDs.

The partnership will offer Sheffield Hallam’s 37,000 students a 20 per cent discount on a wide range of sports and leisure activities at ten SIV facilities for the duration of their studies.

Students with a lifeCARD will also have access to a range of exclusive monthly offers including free ice skating and swimming sessions.

SIV is offering the University’s 4,360 staff a lifeCARD free of charge for a 12 month period.

Gary Marsh, SIV’s CRM and Card Manager, said: “SIV already has an excellent relationship with Sheffield Hallam University, with many students using our venues like the English Institute of Sport Sheffield for their studies.

“This new initiative is about building our partnership with Sheffield Hallam with a fantastic offer that will allow students and staff to make the most of SIV’s world-class sports facilities.

“The lifeCARD has been a huge success since launching in 2011, with more than 60,000 people now taking advantage of savings on sport and leisure activities as well exclusive offers. We expect it to be a big hit with Hallam students and staff.”
